New Song Added – Older Guy

Thank you to all who remembered!

And even though yesterday’s party lasted about 24 hours,
I was still able to play and record this song.

I waited til my birthday was over, so I can post this one.

Yes, I know.
Pathetic.

No matter.

Here is “Older Guy

New Song Added – Your Body Is A Wonderland

From time to time I go over the archives on this site
just for me to check for grammatical errors, coding mistakes
and sometimes more writing ideas.

Then I saw this post –> Click here
which was from two years ago.

And I saw in the comments
a song request from Kristine,
who was my “original music promoter” back in the day.

Your Body Is A Wonderland.
By John Mayer

I have played this music before,
but I never really got to polish it.

And also,
it is her birthday today.
And because I can’t send her gifts,
I thought of re-visiting this arrangement of mine,
see how it comes out and send it to her.

So here’s

Your Body Is A Wonderland

On a different note,
There’s also one more thing I was wondering at,
as I watch a whole lot of TV and read a lot of celebrity gossips.

With regards to John Mayer,
I seem to always see him all over the news, in both Hollywood and the Music scene.
I have seen him play with great guitar players and legendary musicians.

I never really listened to his music, but I gather he’s pretty good
that he gets to be invited to play in major music concerts.

Anyway.
That wasn’t the reason why he got my attention.

The reason why I am talking about him,
is not about why he’s all over the news.

I am talking about him
because of the celebrity women he dated.

According to my research,
he has dated the likes of Jennifer Love Hewitt,
Vanessa Carlton, Jessica Simpson,
Minka Kelly and now Jennifer Aniston.

I mean, there must be something about him
that these women find sexy and attractive.

So I got into thinking,
we got a couple of things in common.

He’s a musician.
I’m a musician.

He plays guitar.
I play guitar.

He sings.
I sing.

Not as good as him, that’s for sure.
But I see that he gets noticed by these beautiful women.

So, maybe.
Just maybe.

If I play his songs.
Maybe just this one song.

John Mayer will also date me.

That would be fabulooooouuuus!

Wait.
I went a wrong turn there somewhere.

Happy Birthday, Kristine!
Mahal kita.
Padalhan mo ako ng Corned Beef.

New Song Added – Whispering A Prayer

I was asleep on my deathbed
when this song started playing on my Mp3 player.

Whispering a Prayer
By Steve Vai

Now two things happened
as I realized how beautiful this song was.

First,
Since I have been sick for days, I had to check if I was dead.
The puddle of drool on my pillow confirmed that I wasn’t.

Second,
I have experienced another miracle.

I fell in love with this song.
It literally woke me and forced me to get up and pick up my guitar.

I always believed that falling in love with a song
the first time you hear it
is a miracle.

Now this is my rendition of the song,
how the music came out of me,
since it is impossible for me to play like Steve Vai.

I mean, come on.

He is a Guitar God who lives in an Ultra World,
And I am just a humble musician from Planet Bullshit.

So here’s

Whispering A Prayer

New Song Added – Burning Flame

An old 80’s song by Vitamin Z.

Ever since I heard this song way back in the day,
I’ve always wanted to play it.
I think this is one of the coolest songs ever.

Except now that I have done it,
All the coolness effect went down the drain.

But then again,
Here I am forcing you to listen to my crap.
And the least you could do is pretend you took the time to hear it.

Have pity on me.
My throat hurts.
My fingers are sore.
And my heart is broken.

Burning Flame

**Man! I got to re-do this one.
The more I listen to it, the more I hate it.

I’m going to bed.

//UPDATE:
After 53 takes, this is the best one that came up. I gave up.

New Song Added – Tanging Hiling

Here’s another original from the guys that did that song
I posted a couple of days ago.
That would be me, Raymund and Melvin.

“The Three Stooges,” as we are well known to our friends.
Or “The Three Spawns of Satan” according to our moms.

Anyways,
Here’s another one we did, just before Christmas of ‘92 or ’93.
I am not really sure.

But I vividly remember where we did this one.

This song is actually about this girl and one of us.
I won’t tell you who, to protect our identities,
and to prevent further beatings.

So this “couple” broke up, right before Christmas,
And this guy was hoping to win the girl’s heart again.
And well…
That’s pretty much how this song came about.

You know how devastating it is
if you are not with your true love come Christmas time.

I mean, who’s going to give you presents?
And, who’s going to stop you when you act like a drunken jerk
at the party where you weren’t really invited,
and ended up passed out on the dance floor covered in your own vomit?

I think I have said too much already.
I do not want to compromise the “Spawn of Satan’s Creed.”

I hope you like this one.
It’s the first time I did an all acoustic amplification,
without plugging anything in.
We’ll except for the Bass and the Microphone.

It’s also written in Tagalog,
so, I guess you have to find your friendly neighborhood Filipino,
so they can translate it.
Of course that’s if you are not from the Philippines.

If you are, then find your friend who doesn’t know Tagalog
and translate this for them.

“Ang gulo mo, Denden!”

Anyways,
this one is called,
Tanging Hiling

New Song Added – If I Don’t Have You

Back in the early 90’s
Two good friends of mine,
Raymund and Melvin,
wanted us to make an original song.
But we do not know what it would be about.

So I came up with this idea
about a guy.
A happy guy.
Who has everything.
Did everything.
Tried everything.

Then he met this girl,
a perfect girl.
But he couldn’t have her.

So the guy realized how meaningless his life was,
knowing that he could not have this girl
that would make him complete.

Quite tragic, if you ask me.

So anyway, a couple of days after,
I came home from school,
And Raymund and Melvin almost broke our front gate
barging into our house,
excited about being able to work out most of the words.

And before that day ended,
We had the words, melody and chords completed.

And needless to say,
I am very proud of this one.
As well as all the other stuff we did.

This is actually just my interpretation from the original one.
I can’t duplicate that without them.

Now I would like to share this here,
with permission from the other two.

To be honest with you,
I can’t tell if that idea was truly an idea or a confession.

All I got out of it was a restraining order.

Anyway,
Here’s

It’s nice to do some originals here for a change huh?
Maybe.

New song added.

I really didn’t think I could do this one,
for obvious reasons.

And when I say obvious reasons,
I mean I really can’t do this song.

But when I was in the Philippines,
and we were hitting the “Magic Mic Karaoke Machine”
at my sister Beth’s place,
Kristine insisted that I sing this one.

And when I say insisted,
I mean I better do it or she would literally twist my arm.

So I did,
And I was actually surprised I was able to finish this one,
with only minor injuries.

It was probably because I was on my 3rd glass of wine,
Or it was from fear.

Nevertheless,
It has inspired me to do and try a lot more songs
that I normally wouldn’t attempt.

In conclusion, after doing this song,
I realized, that I still can’t do it.
But I will not spare you the agony of hearing this one.

So, here’s a great song by Journey,
and how it came out of my brain, my voice and fingers.

Faithfully

New Song Added – Make It Real.

Now,
with special guest,
my good friend, Jojo Ellis on vocals.

This has been a project long overdue.
We started this a long time ago, and it just got completed quite recently.

It’s not easy cooking your music,
when the main ingredient is on the other side of the country.
And now I am so excited it finally saw the light of day in here.

I have always admired Jojo’s singing.
Her amazing melody and her effortless tone.

I have begged her to provide the voice to one of my music interpretations.
And when she finally gave in, I was happier than a pig in mud!

So here’s an old 80’s tune.
And I hope we get to do (one more) a couple more, someday soon.

Maita did very well on Guitars,
and I supplied the melody again.

This has been a really fun project.
Not just because it was fun,
But it also saved me a lot of time from playing all the other instruments.
My laziness is not a secret here.

I hope you guys enjoy this one as much as we did.

PS – The song title, translated in English means “Pepe’s Kite”
I just don’t know what the name Pepe’s counterpart in English is.
Can anyone help?

New Song Added – High School

Here is something that my friend,
Maita and I, experimented on.

She would play the Rhythm,
Record it on her Computer,
And send it to me.

Then I add the melody part.
(Or whatever it is that I added in there.)

It’s from a very old Philippine Song,
from a very old movie soundtrack.

Original composition by George Canseco,
and sung by Sharon Cuneta.

I love the way this one turned out,
Even though it wasn’t really what I had in mind.

I wanted to add more to this, but after just adding the melody,
I listened to it and it sounded like an old Celtic hymn.
Then I just wanted to leave it as it is.

Now this is pretty cool because
she just learned Guitar not too long ago,
and now I think she sounded pretty good.

So now I give you,

HIGH SCHOOL
