A little piano music

So the Hospital won’t let me back in because visiting hours are over.

I went back to the lodge and snuck in a little piano playing by the common area.

Thought I’d share this, because I’m bored and I couldn’t annoy Natalie while she’s recovering.

New Song Added – Seven Years Gone

Is it possible for someone to fall in love with a song
the first time they hear it?

I know I have asked that before,
but this one here, I have fallen in love with quite easily.
So much that it’s actually changing my life.

Well, not actually “changing” it,
but it is changing the way I view things.

I have learned that as much as you waste your time questioning everything,
you can’t keep yourself wallowing in hate.
No matter if your faith and beliefs gets shattered,
you need to pick yourself up,
and move on.
Heal thyself.

It’s a song by one of my Guitar Idols, Mr. Richie Sambora.
I have always been a fan of his style, since his Bon Jovi days,
and also loved his solo albums.
He definitely is a big influence in the way I play music.

This is my rendition of his song, Seven Years Gone.
Please do not mind the mistakes on this one.
I just enjoy covering songs that I love.

All effects are from Garageband,
and all instruments are played by me.
Except for the drums. I just arranged that one.

Thanks again for listening.

New Song Added – Old Photographs

I like old songs.
I mean, very old songs.
Because they are forgotten.

I never forget.
Except when I don’t want to remember something.
Then I don’t even know what I am talking about.

Anyways.
This is from the music of Jim Capaldi.
And it’s the first time I tried the Drummer feature on GarageBand.

So. There it is.
I should cover more old songs.
Because I am old.
I can’t be singing about young stuff.

*Sighs*
What were we talking about?

New Video Song Added – Color My World

I remember my cousin Reggie and I trying to learn this song.
We were so upset that our fingers couldn’t reach the chord fingering stretches.
It was so simple, yet so hard.
Well, for us beginners.

After all these years, I finally had the courage to re-learn it
and play it here.

But to be honest,
this wasn’t really the song I wanted to record today.

I started playing something else
and my thoughts just jumped from one thing to another.
Everything just went in tangents.
I really must be getting old.

Anyways.

New Song Added – Time Will Tell

This one is an original.
Not by me, but by my music mentor.

Brother Bing Dones was our High School Music Coordinator.
He has taught me all my attitude towards music.
Not just by his teachings but also by example.

I remember when I auditioned for the band
he made me sit down and asked me to blindfold myself.
Very unusual, I know.
Not only did he make me play a song on the guitar,
he also grabbed the instrument from me
and played random chords and told me to name them
as I hear them.

“You can’t just know how to play music.” He said. “You have to feel it.”
“Understand it.”
“Find your place in it.”

I did pretty good I suppose,
since I became a member of the band
throughout my whole High School years.

This is one of many songs he shared with us
and I’ve always wanted to play it here.
It took me years to do so, but here it finally is.

My own interpretation of
Time Will Tell.

New Song Added – Himig

How about we do an old Philippine Classic Music.
This one is from one of The Philippines’ great Folk/Rock artists.
And definitely one of my greatest influences, Mr. Freddie Aguilar.
This one is called “Himig.”
One of my favorites, for sure.

I always thought that the music he did here was brilliant, yet haunting.
It’s very fun to play, yet there’s a sad tone to it.

It’s a Tagalog song, so I guess
we’re just going to ask Google to translate it for us.

I also discovered how to make the side by side effects on iMovie,
and I am starting to experiment more on what else we could do on it.
Be easy with me.
I’m a beginner on Video Editing.

New Song Added

Music by – Joe Jackson
Voice and all instruments by – Ty Martell

Oh My Goodness!
There’s actually music on this site?

I know I haven’t done it in a while, but..
Yeah! That’s how this site actually started.

I post songs that I liked in my lifetime.
They’re mostly old songs because… well..
I am old.

I admit these songs I cover aren’t really that great
and they’re mediocre at best.
but that is also not my point.

I must have a way for me to express
all these emotions in one form or another.

I chose Music.

Anyway,
I heard this one when I was listening to an online radio stream.
A popular Radio channel in the Philippines.

I wanted to play this on the piano,
but my fingers wouldn’t work with me at all.
So, I did it all on Guitar.

That’s how I started with music to be honest.
I wanted to play the piano first when I was young,
but I found myself struggling with it
and ended up forcing the music to come out.
So I tried the Guitar and everything made sense.

So maybe we can say that
The Guitar is my number two.
It hasn’t given up on me.
Yet.

Music for breakfast

I had music for breakfast today.
For such a crappy day yesterday, I needed to recharge with what I love most.

This is a Paul Gilbert song called “Three Times Rana.”
I love how catchy it was and quite fun to play on guitar.
Of course I couldn’t do it like he does.

This is typically my morning self and I am not very good with video editing.
Plus I still don’t have any make up on.
I am trying out the iMovie/Photo Booth combination on my Mac.
I need to learn how to make my sound appear better
and my appearance seem …uhh better to look at.
But at this point, those two wishes seem hopeless.

Anyway, Forgive the grainy video and the mediocre sound.
It’s what I had for breakfast.
At least I am full.
