Remembering Dad – 2021

Before the day ends let me just share this one story about my Father when he was still with us.
He was very adamant that he never falls asleep when he’s in a vehicle and someone else was driving.

He said, and I quote, “I just never trust anyone else’s way of driving.”
This is actually true. I’ve never seen him asleep while traveling.

Now, back in the Philippines, he and I traveled to Tarlac from Quezon City many times.
That’s about a 2 hour drive back then. Of course, I was the one who drove for the most of it.

One time as we were on our way, he got quiet all of a sudden.
So I glanced at him and what do you know …. Mr. Martell was asleep!
Bobbing his head, eyes all shut.

He never told me he fell asleep, but I was very proud of myself that day.
My old man trusted me.

It’s been 13 years since he left us.

And I still miss him dearly.

Happy Birthday to my Femme

I am lucky enough to see her beautiful smile every single day
and even more fortunate to have her as my wife.

Happy Birthday, mon amour.

Thank you for saying “Yes” to me.
Thank you for all your delicious cooking.
Thank you for helping me survive a global pandemic.
And thank you for staying by my side throughout our journey.

Je t’aime beaucoup.

1st Shot

So I got the first Covid Vaccine.

I didn’t take a Vaccine selfie but I’m letting you know anyway
because you’re a caring person
and I’m sure you want to know who had it or not.

Also got a headache a couple of minutes after.
So I got myself a large poutine to ease the pain.

Just thought you should know that too.

*SIDE NOTE

I just found out that in the Philippines, getting a swab test cost the public about 8,000 Pesos.
What the Effing Eff? That’s about $200!!

Imagine having your whole family tested?

My God!
Why does my Mother Land’s government always does this to its people.
