New Video Song – Never Say Never

One of the things that help me grow in music
is to listen to other music or bands that my friends recommend.
This one was recommended by my good friend, Avelyn.

Never Say Never
Music by The Fray
Covered by yours truly.

I thought I’d also try to do a piano/keyboard twist on it.
Not just because the piano has that certain feel to it
that would make any song resonate a whole lot more emotion,
but also because I haven’t replaced my Guitar strings
and I had no choice.

What? I was busy.

Flashback Friday

Allow me to re-post this one.
I was playing this again last night.

I play worship songs when
my Faith is taking a beating.

by Michael W. Smith
Covered by Yours Truly.

Sometimes, you just don’t know
where your place is
in the whole scheme of things.

Thank you.

If you would notice the recent comments on the right side of this site,
and if you follow the posts,
you will see how many people have requested my covers of Bro. Lapid’s songs.

I am truly honored and flattered.
Thank you.
These are nothing without the power of Bro. Lapid’s lyrics.

I covered his songs for personal reasons,
and all I hoped for was to give it justice.

On behalf of Bro. Lapid and myself,
Thank you all so very much.

God bless you all.

**UPDATE**
Here’s a personal comment from Bro. Mike Lapid himself.

Hi Ty, and everyone,

really touched to hear so many of you requesting my songs. I didn’t realize that up to this day, they still inspire you. Feel humbled by your comments. I am even surprised that some of you have requested songs that I have composed long long time ago. I doubt that Ty would still know these songs as they were not taught at DBTC. Anyway, I am indeed grateful to God for allowing me to use these songs to touch all of you and remind you that indeed God is always present in our lives no matter how rough and tough life could be for us. These songs were intended for the young people of Don Bosco and for other young people who have not known Don Bosco. thanks everyone. thanks ty

Oh Great Queen!

Today is Mr. Freddie Mercury’s 65th Birthday.

Queen is one of those legendary bands whom I loved,
the very first time I heard them.

How in the world can the power of Opera
and the might of Rock and Roll be merged together as one?
Just like how “Bohemian Rhapsody” showed us?

Yes. Queen did that.

The anthem of “We Will Rock You!”
and “We Are The Champions” being sung in every sports event.

Queen did that.

The synchronicity of hands with clenched fist and clapping was known
and understood every time someone performs “Radio Ga-Ga.”

Queen did that.

The Drums of Roger Taylor on the Coda of “Somebody To Love.”
The Bass of John Deacon on “Another One Bites The Dust.”
The Melodic Guitar Riffs of Brian May on “Killer Queen.”
And the Voice and Charisma of Freddie Mercury on each and every song they have done.

“That” is Queen.

My Radio, Cassette Player,
Walkman, CD Player, Mp3 Player,
Computer and even on my phone,
I always have my favourite Queen songs
added permanently.

I miss them being together.

“When I’m dead, I want to be remembered
as a musician of some worth and substance.”
[Freddie Mercury ~1946-1991]

We remember you, Sir.
We remember.

BIG Review

Let me tell you something.
I just had a major surgery done last month.
Recovery time wouldn’t stop me from seeing this concert.

A Hurricane threatened the state of Florida last week.
That wouldn’t stop me from seeing this concert either.

I have waited years to see one of my favorite bands of all time.
Mr. Big has heavily influenced the music I listen to and the songs I try to play.

Seeing them perform live is a dream come true for me.

What a BIG Show!

Last night’s Mr. BIG show at the House Of Blues, in Orlando, Rocked!
They Rocked HARD!!

A little review and some more pictures and videos to come soon.
My throat still hurts.

I see BIG tonight!

Yes Sir!
I have waited to see them in concert for years.
One of my greatest music influences.

Paul Gilbert‘s unbelievable Guitar technique.
Billy Sheehan‘s Bass virtuosity.
Pat Torpey‘s Amazing percussion beats.
And Eric Martin‘s killer voice screams.

They performed in Manila back in May of 1994,
but I left the country, a month before that.

They parted ways years after and destroyed my hopes of seeing them live.

Now they are back in tour,
with all original members together.
And I am determined not to miss this show in Orlando.

I’ll try to sneak in some pictures from the show if I could.
Once I control myself from screaming like a 10 year old girl,
and giggling to myself.
I’ll try my best.

I’ll also try to do a review of how it went.
So check back here and see what rock madness I have experienced there.

TONIGHT, WE ROCK!

Pretty Links

I changed the URL Permalinks on this site, from
the old crazy denofmusic.com/p?#####(some#kind#of#random#stuff)

to denofmusic.com/%category%/%postname%
which is whatever Title I put in, to make it readable.

But you don’t care about that.
To be honest, I didn’t either.
And now it took almost 11 years before I changed it.
It was driving me nuts.

Thanks to Dean’s Permalink plugins and a whole bunch of people on the forums.

Now I just have to fix the Archives.
Oh and I also lost the “likes” I got on my Facebook buttons.

Oh well,
We’ll just have to do more shameless self promotion.
I’m used to that anyway.
