Is it possible?

Is it possible to fall in love with a song?
Or a full album.

Yes it is.

I have been listening to John Petrucci‘s latest album,

Suspended Animation.

And it has been on a constant repeat on my home pc media player,
my work PC media player,
my psp mp3 player,
my car stereo,
and to be honest,
it’s playing in my head too.

Constantly.

Cuts 1 and 5, “Jaws of Life” and “Damage Control” are just songs
that would be impossible for you not to bang your head along with its catchy rhythm.

And if you’re like me,
I would be banging my head against the wall,
in sheer frustration,
why can’t I play like these people.

Cut 2, “Glasgow Kiss“, seems to be quite a feel good progressive rock more than any other.
Because it seems like whenever I listen to it,
it makes me want to get up and do the jig.

John does some amazing finger-works on this one.
I think he’s got 7 fingers on his left hand.
And possibly three thumbs.

And not to mention Cut 3, “Tunnel Vision.”
Where it has that Techno Rock feel that makes me want to go raving all night.

Just like that time where I partied all night at a rave club,
and woke up naked in a dumpster in downtown Toronto.
Which was really bizarre, because I live in Ottawa.

And the song that made me love this CD so much is
Cut 4, “Wishful Thinking.”

John Petrucci definitely nailed the right melodies,
the perfect chords,
the fantastic rhythm,
and just the right feel.

It’s impossible for someone not to fall in love with this song.

And as a musician, (or as I claim myself to be)
these are the kind of songs where you realize how and why,
you dwell into the beauty and magic that is Music.”

I’m going to see John Petrucci play in Orlando this Friday.
Along with Joe Satriani and Paul Gilbert on their G3 tour.

I already know that when I see Joe play,
I will freakin’ drool from amazement.

And once Paul Gilbert plays,
or to be more precise, “shreds”,
I will freakin lose my mind.

But if John Petrucci ever plays any of these songs I mentioned here,
someone is going to have to pick me up in Toronto.

And bring extra clothes.

Oh, and some aspirin.

Update

Found “Wishful Thinking” on YouTube.

Maybe someday, by the grace of God, I’ll be able to play this.

I listened to my songs in my car,
    I had to stop it.
    It hurt my ears.

I wanted to take a nap right after listening to it,
    but I can’t because I remembered,
