Slapgate

So, Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on National Television at the Oscars the other night and every one on social media went nuts.

It was so crazy we even forgot that there’s a freakin’ war going on and people are dying.

Anyway, I’m not really going to take sides here. I am not an Ethics Expert. I won’t even mention how the Academy handled the situation because we all know they give preference to certain groups.

I just want to state two things.

Listen up, kids. I’m really hoping your parents already taught you these but I’ll say it nevertheless.

First.
It is not okay to make fun of another person’s appearance. No matter how funny it is to you. No matter if you know the person well.

You do not know what they are going through and what it took for them to gather their courage just to face another hard day.

Second.
It is not okay to hit people. Never. Not ever. Never ever.

This is not how you solve adult situations. You need to grow up and use your brain and reasoning to resolve whatever bothered you.

This is a hard one since we are all exposed to too much violence and we all think it’s normal. Humans tend to afflict pain on another human (animals too) to feel superior. It’s one of our many horrible traits.

Now. As of this writing, I heard that Will apologized publicly to Chris.
That’s fine. Let him see the error of his ways. Or maybe he got pressured to do so, but still.
He should know that that’s how bullies show themselves.
What if someone else did that to his kids someday?

I also think, Chris should acknowledge the apology and in turn apologize to Jada. His joke may be just so he’ll get cheap laughs or maybe for shock value. It wasn’t really a Roast Show.
Maybe he should’ve researched his punchline first, but still, apologize for it since Jada has a condition and Health is not a joke. Especially this day and age.

I don’t know. I’m not really a fan of “Forgive and Forget.” Not even fond of “Second Chances.” I’ve been burned too many times by too many people. They should all think about apologizing to me.

Come to think of it, I need to apologize to those whom I have done wrong too.

Maybe I will. Maybe I won’t.
But that’s not important right now.

What’s more important is that I too should get an Oscar for acting like I’m not crazy.
